It's really no surprise that we would all end up sick so soon after getting home. We were in go-mode for so long, it makes sense that as soon as we would slow down the germs would have a chance to wreak havoc on us... and I tell ya, sickness in kids really throws a curveball in things. And one sick baby, usually leads to three sick babies (sometimes five) in our house. It's nearly impossible to keep germs at bay when no one quite understands how to not spread them... as much as we try to encourage coughing and sneezing into elbows and washing hands, etc, they are 2 and 3, and germs spread quick! And Ben puts everything in his mouth, so there is no hope there..
We spent what seemed like a month in and out of the doctor's office with one or another. A couple days before New Year's Eve seemed to be the worst (one is usually the worst as they take turns getting antibiotics, but the couple days where everyone overlaps… rough days at our house!). Rudy was pathetically sick... couldn't get off the couch, moaned and groaned... really sick (not really, just as sick as sick can get before really sick). Ben was not feeling well either and so he wasn't sleeping great but was in and out of sleep most of the day. Avery did ok. Luckily Gran and Papa helped out and took Avery running around with them so she could get some attention and stay away from germs as much as possible. We had had plans with our friends for New Year's Eve but had to cancel on account of all the ear infections going around our house...
But by New Year's Day, things seemed to take a turn for the better. Everyone seemed to be back in better spirits and we were all anxious to get out of the house and get some fresh air. So off to the mall we went...
Avery's favorite lunch time snack - soft pretzels with cheeeeeese!
And a last minute plan to join our friends out of dinner... someone suggested the hibachi grill, thought the kids would be entertained by it, and they sure were... their reactions were awesome!
The fire razzled them, but most of the time they were fixated on what what going on...
Rudy: "I tan't watch!"
Fun with friends and some time out of the house... just what the doctor ordered!
