The Minella's came to town Friday, so we had some time to do some fun things...
John, Kate, Kurt and I took the kids downtown to the Taste of Springfield to grab a quick dinner and get some fresh air. We ate some yummy food, ran into some friends, danced in the street, and had a great little night out.
It's a little hard to see in this picture, but check out Kurt's monkey sticker. Before we left the house, the kids were playing with monkey stickers and stuck one on Kurt. He forgot about it and we didn't notice until we were about to leave that he had been wearing it the whole time. Kurt's a popular guy and ran into lots of familiar faces and ventured off on his own for a bit, too -- all while donning his sweet sticker
Funny story about the guy to Kate's right (he's actually talking to John). John knows him from when he worked for Habitat. He was a regular volunteer and John and him got along well. When we drove up to the hospital the night Ben was born, this guy opened our door. Turns out he's also a volunteer at the hospital! He went above and beyond his regular duties and took us all the way up to our floor and took care of the car and brought the keys back up later. I clearly didn't have a lot of time to spare :)
Uncle Tony and Patrick came over early the next morning...
Poor Patrick. Not much rest on trips to visit us!
And Sunday was our baby Ben's baptism...
We chose my cousin Kate and John's sister Maria to be Ben's Godmothers. Ben is so blessed to have these ladies as his Godmothers and we are so thankful they agreed to take on such a special responsibility for Ben.
At one point during the baptism Avery became fascinated with my shoes. She would not leave them alone and kept trying to lift my foot up to see the bottom. I thought I might fall over at one point!
Love this picture of Ben and Father Grant with his leading ladies in the background :)
Tough job keeping these two corralled at mass...
So blessed...
Me and Ben, and our Godmothers
Mothers and Godmothers - Me and my mom, who is also Kate's Godmother; Kate and her mom, who is my Godmother
After mass and the baptism we invited our families to our house for brunch and cake...
and Rudy and Avery sure like cake!
Snuggle time with lots of aunts...
God Bless Our Benedetto!
