Derby Day 2014 was the least eventful Derby of my life thus far. Considering all we have going on, I'm ok with it. But I'm determined we make up for it next year and have already been recruiting and trying to talk "everyone" into going to Kentucky next year…wouldn't that be fun?!
Of course we couldn't let the day go by completely uncelebrated…
Avery was happy to wear her pretty dress and hat...
…and since John had to spend the day at work, we decided to join him at the firehouse to watch the race!
The kids had a great time - the other firefighters loaded them up with sweets and more sweets (and thought they were pretty funny in doing so).
Then they were able to climb on the truck with dad before heading home for a pizza party with Grandma and Grandpa Cicci.
And this was just too funny not to share… later that night John sent me this picture:
They had had a fire and when he got back and was changing his clothes, this is what he had for socks… oops! I'm not surprised. My brain hasn't been functioning quite right these days! I think I met my match, too… being 9 months pregnant, taking care of 2 kids, and a major house project.
John and I are really, really looking forward to getting back to feeling normal again!
