On his last visit to Springfield, Uncle Tony hinted at us making a trip up to his land for his birthday. Of course we couldn't turn down the opportunity! Rudy had made the trip once and Avery never had. And what a better reason to go?!
Unfortunately, John wasn't able to join us -- work schedule and work on the house took up his time. Luckily, Gran wanted to go, too so the four of us packed in (and I mean packed in!) her car (yes, car) and took off for Western Springs on a Friday afternoon.
During the car ride, I was trying to teach Rudy to say "Tony"... and I'm pretty proud of my clever tactics...
Here are a few highlights from our trip:
A morning at the mall... Uncle Tony and Rudy snuck into the Disney store while I was busy shopping and Rudy didn't leave empty handed. Tony said he was touching and picking up just about everything in sight, but settled on yet another dada (aka fire truck).
Lunch at California Pizza Kitchen.
Look how impressed they are by the pizza throwing..
A trip to Build a Bear where we were able to make a "George" to bring home and who has since been snuggled with every night.
And not pictured is the fall wardrobe I was able to accumulate for Avery, and a few things for Rudy :)
The park down the street from Aunt Sue the Great's house (our very gracious hostess)
Playing with Jim's football gloves (something tells me a pair of these will be on Rudy's Christmas list).
Lounging and spending time together, without an agenda
Avery with the new President of her fan club, Aunt Dawn the Great
Our plans for the zoo were ruined by a rainy morning, but the book store was a fun alternative!
And of course, BIRTHDAY CAKE!!!!
Doesn't get much cuter...
