June 2016

We celebrated John's 33rd birthday with a whole day of activities!  First stop, Grant's Farm in St. Louis.  We had never been with the kids and decided it would be a good time to try it out!
The train ride through the park was a big hit!

Bottle-feeding goats!  There were lots of kids there at the same time and we were told the goats weren't too hungry... Avery found one to feed, but Rudy just couldn't get any bites.  He certainly tried, though!

The hall of carriages.  Avery was insistent that this was Cinderella's and had to have a picture by it.
Pony and camel rides!

And, of course, couldn't leave out the carousel!
Back at home that evening we had dinner and cake (ok stacked peanut butter cookies - John's fave) with our parents and some family.
You'd think Ben did this to himself...
But nope!  It was a group effort, making him "so beautiful!"
Our family pic from the day proudly on display on the refrigerator :)

For Father's Day I took the kids to Washington Park one morning to try my skills at getting some nice pictures of them... not so bad!

We've also been spending a lot of time at the pool - I have very few pictures because who has time for pictures when you are corralling and patrolling 3 toddlers at a pool?!

Here they are at the BSS Garden Party - a fun event held at the school every summer with fair food, carnival rides, face painting, games, music, etc.
Couldn't pass up a photo op with the Pope - amiright, Aunt Dawn?!

One evening we were at Gran and Papa's for dinner and the kids went out to water the plants... They SOAKED themselves so I ran and grabbed some soap and stripped them down and we had our baths outside!

Afternoon snuggles :)

And we "finished" - as in nothing is ever finished and there are still minor things to do - the basement!
Before - as in after we moved in but before we "finished" it

After:
Filling it up!
We left it open, but plenty of room for a spare bed.. the kids were so impressed by this that we had to take turns letting them sleep in the basement with one of us for a few nights

Taking in a Magic Show at the Calvary Play Place - one of our favorite stops on rainy days!

Sleeping buds :)

Taking in a little music at the downtown music festival
And John was nice enough to take the kids home so I could stay and watch The North 41 (formally Walsher Clemons) with my fan... super super fun night!

The Barnards and us met for a night of baseball at the Springfield Sliders game.
I spared John and Matt and didn't upload the video of them doing a game on field between innings - spinning around bats and then racing to home plate - the kids were so impressed by their dads and Sara and I didn't stop laughing.
After the game, after running the bases: What a crew!
This picture actually made the Sliders advertisements and appeared in the monthly local papers all summer - so we're basically famous :)
