We started out our early morning by dragging out our collection of green beads and decor from over the years and let the kids have at it… and this is what they came up with...
We then took them to a pre-parade party at a friend's house where several other kids happened to be!
Rudy was thrilled to have JP to play with, of course. And Todd and Emma let them play catch in the house, which was a real hit!
Quite a crew :)
Next it was on to the downtown parade where we were lucky enough to get to walk in with the Fire Department! Rudy and Avery threw lots and lots of candy and had fun waving to everyone.
Precious cargo :)
I took the kids home for naps while John stayed to have some fun with friends (and next year I'll hopefully be calling on Grandma and Grandpa to be on nap duty!)
Once the kids were up, we headed back out to meet Gran and Papa and some of their friends for dinner. The restaurant we ate at had bag-pipers come play for a bit - right by our table!
Rudy loves a good tune and did some groovin'
And when they were done, one lady was nice enough to let Rudy give it a try!
St. Patrick's Day celebrations sure have changed for us over the years! (For the better, of course!)
