Our Morning at the Children's Museum

John had a "k day" last week -- a day off, so 5 days in a row! -- and we were starting to feel restless and wanted to mix up our routine a bit so John suggested a day trip to a children's museum.  We settled on the Children's Museum of Illinois in Decatur and it was so much fun!  There were so many fun things for Rudy to play with, climb on, look at, etc.  Here are some snapshots from our morning:

In the "yard" area, Rudy mowed the grass, played in the dog house, planted a garden, played on a deck, and looked at bugs.

At the "market," Rudy shopped for produce and pushed a miniature shopping cart around...
(notice how he is pointing right to where he wants John to sit)
(and so happy when he listens!)
 ...and then drove home.
We played making giant bubbles

and climbed this (not sure what to call it but it was pretty cool!).

There were blocks and lego tables galore,
 a construction site,
 a kids playhouse,
 a sensory room,
and a train table
with a fire truck close by!

 and a puppet show room
Avery was awake almost the entire time and saw it all while strapped to me.
And these are just the parts I had pictures of!  There was also a pizza parlor, an airplane, an auto repair shop, painting room, water room...hmmm...what else?  I'm sure I'm leaving something out, but you get the idea.  It was a great museum and perfect for Rudy -- he didn't want to leave!

And when we made it home, Rudy was all for snuggling with his best friend

It's days like these that I LOVE John's work schedule (and me not working)

  1. What a fun museum! And it looks like you pretty much had it to yourselves!
